My friends all call me a "Burton boy" because of my trend in snowboard and
clothing purchase. Guilty. Burton, in general, makes damn good equipment. Not
the cheapest, certainly, but a wide range. And you get what you pay for.

I am so over lobbying organizations that feel a need to take stances on
topics that have nothing to do with their mission. The HRC is different.
They focus on one set of issues, and press on that set of issues. They've
made it possible for people across the political spectrum how agree on
basic human equality rights to work together.

It's my home mountain, so what can I say? 3,100 vertical and 3,500 acres of terrain
all of which can be boarded effectively, unlike some areas where "skiable terrain"
is a flexible term.

Jackson is the undisputed king of steep boarding (at least for lift served boarding.)
You go to Jackson to get better. The snow is great and the town is funky. It's near
two national parks. In fact, Mammoth's and Jackson's locations are pretty similar...
but I'll admit that Jackson is taller. Of course, Jackson is even more remote
than Mammoth in the winter.

I've visited Jase's site for some time now. Good clean design, entertaining, and, I'll
admit, often an inspiration for my site and design.
Ok, I don't really agree with Jase's politics, but hey, differences are what makes
the world interesting.

Whistler/Blackcomb is huge, with two large mountains. Nevermind the fact that the
bottom third of the mountains are basically just access runs, or the sometimes
annoying fog and warm temps - there are still enough steeps and good terrain
to make this part of my boarding triple crown (Mammoth, Jackson, Blackcomb.)

The other general news site I check most often. Their broadcasts on cable can
be damn irritating (one of my friends refers to it as MS-DNC) but the coverage
on the site is not too bad, if a bit more sensationalist than CNN.
